NATE Guideline – Inspection of Guy Anchors in Direct Contact with Soil

Though the ultimate responsibility for the structural integrity of the tower belongs to the site owner, when an employer designated competent person does work on a guy tower, they should consider the process outlined in this document to determine whether or not the structure is safe to climb.

This guideline developed by the Safety & Education Committee outlines what is included in both types of inspection. The information gathered during an inspection is intended to help owners and inspectors determine the structural condition of the anchor and put into place or select mitigating measures to prevent further corrosion.
