Safety Advisory Bulletin – Anchor Corrosion and DTB

Guy anchors in direct contact with soil have been proven to be susceptible to galvanic corrosion. As telecommunications towers come of age, the issue has been brought forefront due to tower failures caused by guy anchor corrosion and the inherent life-safety risk to technicians.

NATE: The Communications Infrastructure Contractors Association has recently received feedback from member companies about anchor corrosion and sites requiring dig-to-block (DTB) anchor rod situations.

As a voice for the industry, NATE strives to utilize our platform to bring safety awareness, and urges the entire ecosystem of stakeholders representing the carriers/broadcasters/customers, vertical real-estate tower owners, contractors, and technicians to exercise vigilance when working at sites that may be structurally compromised due to corrosion.

To be a resource for the industry on this issue, NATE encourages companies at all levels of the communications infrastructure deployment chain to incorporate the resources documents/videos into their operations, training, and site safety audit/inspection processes:
