Pre-Climb Checklist
The Pre-Climb Checklist is an essential step in identifying and controlling potential hazards. Prior to each climb, it is important to review any safety hazard that may need to be mitigated. A “Pre-Climb Checklist” includes but is not limited to:
· Verify structural analysis is current.
· Inspect the work environment for any unsafe conditions.
· Report unsafe conditions to the Site Supervisor and consult on the next steps.
· Apply controls to mitigate hazards.
· Follow all safety regulations, including your employer’s.
· Evaluate potential environmental and other site related hazards/exposures.
· Determine the best climbing path on the structure that minimizes hazards.
· Periodically inspect the site as work progresses; adjust work practices and procedures as necessary.
· Inspect all fall protection, rigging and tools as per the manufacturer’s instructions.
Consult your employer about any additional policies or procedures that exist.
