NATE Work Zone Safety Guidelines

In the face of ongoing construction and maintenance projects across the nation, work zone safety remains a critical priority to protect workers, drivers, and pedestrians in and around these active sites. To support these efforts, NATE has released a new guideline aimed at enhancing work zone safety through standardized protocols and procedures.

The NATE Work Zone Safety Guideline provides a high-level overview of work zone safety, addressing select critical topics that aim to reduce accidents and improve operational efficiency. While the document offers valuable insights, it is not intended to cover the full scope of work zone safety, allowing employers the flexibility to tailor their own safety plans to meet unique needs and specific circumstances.

“We are committed to improving safety on public roadways by providing clear, standardized guidelines as well as pointing to applicable regulations,” said Brian Bicknese, NATE’s Director of Safety & Education. “By utilizing the most current resources, employers and workers alike can implement effective safety measures to prevent accidents and create safer environments for all.”

Employers are encouraged to use the NATE guidelines to develop customized safety plans for their specific work zones, ensuring they adhere to best practices while protecting their workers and the general public.
