Jane Murphy is the Strategic Communications Director for Murphy Tower Service, LLC where she manages public relations for the company supporting its four business units. She relies on her accreditation in public relations to support both internal and external communications. Jane facilitated the rebranding of the company as it continued to broaden its service offerings over the last several years. She recently added issues management to her role, looking for ways to engage in industry issues impacting Murphy Tower, like workforce shortages, as well as the high demand for broadband, especially in rural areas. Jane also handles crisis communication planning and media relations for the company.

Jane is a former professor of public relations and taught at several colleges and universities during the last decade, including the University of Iowa, Drake University and Simpson College. Prior to teaching, Jane worked in nonprofit communications; she has extensive experience working with boards of directors on high-impact community issues like health care, workforce development, school readiness and child abuse prevention.

Jane lives near Des Moines, Iowa, with her husband, Pat Murphy, CEO of Murphy Tower Service. Together they enjoy rooting for the Hawkeyes’ sports teams, having both attended the University of Iowa where they met. Jane also enjoys biking and hiking and spending time with her three children ages 22, 20, and 17 – when they’re around!
