NATE Board of Directors Member Dominique Valdez to Serve as A10.48 Committee Liaison

(Watertown, SD) – On Friday, August 20, the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) Committee Secretariat Manager Tim Fisher officially unveiled the results of balloting for the confirmation of a new leadership team for the A10.48 Subgroup Committee. NATE is proud to announce that the Association’s Director of Safety, Health & Compliance, Kathy Stieler, will serve as the new Chair of the A10.48 Committee. Additionally, NATE Board of Directors Member Dominique Valdez was appointed to serve as the A10.48 Committee Liaison.
The ANSI/ASSP A10.48-2023 Standard – Criteria for Safety Practices with the Construction, Demolition, Modification and Maintenance of Communications Structures serves as the industry’s “playbook” and provides comprehensive safety guidance for the entire tower construction, service and maintenance activities work. The ascension of Stieler to the A10.48 Committee Chair role will ensure that the subject matter expertise available through NATE will play a pivotal role in the future as the standard continues to be revised to meet the needs of the industry. This standard, through the guidance of numerous industry contributors, has been developed to aid contractors in effective construction plans facilitating a safe working environment.
“I want to recognize NATE and all the industry members that have contributed their time, and talent to the development and evolution of this standard, keeping the focus on the women and men that utilize it to help provide a safe working environment,” said Kathy Stieler. “I would also like to recognize the past contributions of the late Ernie Jones as well as provide gratitude to Gordon Lyman and Don Doty for their incredible leadership working on this standard over the past 14 years. Their expertise and dedication to our industry and the safety of our men and women in the field are truly commendable. I am excited to continue building on their legacy and adapt our standards to meet the evolving needs of the industry. Together, we can ensure quality through planning for a safer future for everyone involved,” Stieler added.
Stieler also announced that Justin Huggins, Vice President of National Program Management at Ontivity has offered to serve the industry in the role as the Vice Chair of the Committee. Huggins’ subject matter expertise will be invaluable as NATE continues to advance safety standards and adapt to the changes in the industry.
