NATE Opens Registration for 2023 Electrical Safety Awareness for Telecom Workers Training Courses

Training Made Possible Due to DOL-OSHA Training Grant; Registration Accessible on NATE’s Website

(Watertown, SD) – NATE: The Communications Infrastructure Contractors Association announced today that the registration process is officially open for the first nine Electrical Safety Awareness for Telecom Workers Training Courses that will be facilitated by the Association in 2023. Overall, twelve courses will be hosted nationwide in 2023 to industry employees and employers due to a Susan Harwood Training Grant (SH-39154-SH2) from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, U.S. Department of Labor.

NATE is planning to host these complimentary, grant-enabled training sessions in Madison, Wisconsin; Orlando, Florida; Concord, New Hampshire; Missoula, Montana; Wilmington, Delaware; Las Vegas, Nevada; Overland Park, Kansas; Honolulu, Hawaii; Gulfport, Mississippi; Plano, Texas; Syracuse, New York; and Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2023.

The new curriculum is tailored specifically to the communications infrastructure industry and includes detailed instructions on electrical safety awareness such as overhead transmission and distribution, equipment, basic electrical theory, lock-out/tag-out procedures and standards, installation of electrical telecom equipment, underground power, grounding and bonding, induced current, PPE, batteries and necessary safety, tower lighting and capacitors, and job hazard analysis documentation specific to telecom electrical awareness.

Additionally, the curriculum includes pertinent OSHA information regarding employer responsibilities, worker rights, and whistleblower laws and complaint procedures (including time constraints).

“NATE is excited to formally launch the schedule and registration process for the 2023 Electrical Safety Awareness for Telecom Workers Training Courses,” said Project Manager Kimberly Elliott. “NATE projects that a minimum of 336 employers and employees will receive this complimentary training throughout the grant period. I encourage industry workers to register today for the training course in their respective regions as we anticipate these sessions to be in high demand,” added Elliott.

Interested participants should complete the Electrical Safety Awareness for Telecom Workers online registration form available on the Association’s 2023 Worker Training Course web page HERE.

Under the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, employers are responsible for providing safe and healthful workplaces for their employees. OSHA’s role is to ensure these conditions for America’s working men and women by setting and enforcing standards, and providing training, education, and assistance.

NATE, at the time of initial publication of this document (January 4, 2023), is funded by a grant of $160,000 federal funds, which constitutes 100 percent of the program budget. Zero percent, or $0 of the program budget, is financed through non-governmental sources.
