Telecommunications Tower Technician Instructors Needed in Ohio

The Ohio Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation under the leadership of Lt. Governor Jon Husted, in collaboration with NATE: The Communications Infrastructure Contractors Association is ready to launch Telecommunications Tower Technician (TTT1) programs at three public institutions in the Buckeye State. The three Ohio institutions include Hocking College (Nelsonville, OH) North Central State College (Mansfield, OH) and Vanguard-Sentinel Career & Technology Center (Fremont, OH) are in the final stages of implementing the TTT1 program.

The TTT1 the program will provide the student with the necessary theory and hands-on experience to receive a job as an entry level telecommunications technician. Topics include safety, basic rigging and fall protection, principles of electricity, wireless technology, cell components, antenna basics, and spectrum management. The TTT1 program will be offered as a face-to-face, seven course non-credit program over a period of eight weeks. Students will earn the following certifications during the course: First Aid/CPR, Air and Blood Borne Pathogens, OSHA 10, and be prepared to take the NWSA TTT1 ANSI certified examination as part of the program.

The state of Ohio has provided each institution a financial grant to assist in securing the needed equipment and training tower and NATE has provided the turn-key curriculum to assist the institutions in delivering the TTT1 program. The final step to implement the program is to recruit and hire a qualified tower technician instructor/trainer.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced telecommunications technician that is current in climbing, rescue, the job responsibilities of a technician, and holds current certifications in First Aid/CPR, OSHA 10 etc. and as a NWSA TTT1 or TTT2. Additionally, the candidate will be knowledgeable in the wireless industry standards and best practices as applied to structural construction, modification, and maintenance, antenna and transmission line installation and maintenance, and fall protection, rigging and rescue.
