NATE Statement on FCC’s Actions to Free-Up Additional Spectrum Critical to 5G Services

(Washington, D.C.) – NATE: The Communications Infrastructure Contractors Association issued the following statement on today’s developments at the FCC March Open Meeting that will ultimately serve to make more valuable mid-band spectrum available for 5G to the industry.

“NATE commends the FCC for its approval today of a second report and order that will make more mid-band spectrum available for 5G services,” said Director of Legislative & Regulatory Affairs Jim Goldwater. “The Association is excited by efforts by the FCC and Congress to make more mid-band spectrum available for fifth generation wireless services. Additional access to spectrum, particularly in the mid-band range, will advance the country’s goals of expanding 5G while providing more deployment opportunities for our member companies and their hard-working technicians,” Goldwater added.

Today’s FCC action addresses a congressional requirement included in the FY 2021 omnibus spending bill and will make 100 megahertz of spectrum in the 3.45 GHz band available for flexible use wireless services throughout the contiguous United States. The action also sets the stage for another spectrum auction later this year.
