NATE Applauds FCC Vote to Free Up Valuable Mid-band Spectrum for 5G

(Washington, D.C.) – NATE: The Communications Infrastructure Contractors Association commends the Federal Communications Commission for its vote today to make more mid-band spectrum available for commercial 5G deployment. The unanimous vote by FCC Commissioners took place today at the agency’s September Open Meeting.

The vote by the FCC will help add 100 megahertz of spectrum in the 3.45-3.55 gigahertz band for next-generation, commercial wireless services. Mid-band spectrum is considered ideal for 5G because it can deliver high capacity and reliability over significant distances.

“We are excited by the opportunity to utilize more spectrum,” said Todd Schlekeway, NATE’s President & CEO. “More spectrum translates into more deployment opportunities for the telecommunications tower industry, while substantially advancing the nation’s critical communications capabilities by promoting the deployment of 5G,” he added.
