NATE Applauds FCC’s Actions to Streamline the Deployment of Next Generation Wireless Facilities

FCC Vote a Big Step Forward on Path to a 5G Future

(Washington, D.C.) – NATE today commended the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for approving a Wireless Infrastructure Streamlining Second Report and Order at the agency’s March Open Commission Meeting.

The approved order focuses on the types of deployments that are subject to National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) review, and it reexamines and revises Commission rules and procedures for such deployments. The positive step will ensure that the private sector’s deployment of certain small wireless facilities ultimately do not trigger federal historic preservation and environmental reviews.

“NATE applauds the FCC for their leadership in taking a major step forward to help cut the red tape, unnecessary deployment costs and delays that are associated with the small cell installation process,” said Board of Directors member Jimmy Miller from Gulfport, Mississippi.“Today’s actions will help ensure a more seamless approach as NATE member companies densify networks through small cell deployments in the run up to 5G,” added Miller.
