From the NATE Office
By the time this issue of Tower Times reaches most of you, the 2006 NATE Summer Conference will be history. The NATE Administrative Staff is looking forward to this year’s meeting even more than usual as the meeting will be held in Watertown, South Dakota. I know I speak for the entire staff in saying that we are excited to have the chance to show the Board of Directors and Committee Members where we work and where we live.
The Summer Conference is designed to give NATE’s leadership the opportunity to conduct business face-to-face midway between each year’s NATE Annual Conference & Exposition. It also serves to remind me of the incredible dedication NATE Members demonstrate every year.
The time and resources NATE’s leaders pour into the continued success of the Association each year are remarkable. NATE Board and Committee Members pay their own expenses for travel, room and food, not to mention the time they spend away from their businesses for the Summer Conference and for the Annual Conference & Exposition. Depending on the level of involvement, members may also be engaged in regular conference calls and ongoing discussions of issues via email.
That is the power of volunteerism. It can be incredibly effective. I can also tell you first-hand that it is humbling to observe. At the top of NATE’s leadership is the Board of Directors. Each year, NATE members choose who will fill these seats. NATE’s Board of Directors is very actively in-volved in how the Association addresses the issues facing our members. Everyone who has participated on the Board during my years at NATE has brought their own unique perspective. Diversity is what keeps any association vital.
This year NATE will elect four members to the Board of Directors. Information regarding the election and how you can become a candidate can be found on pages 9-10. Please note that applications for candidacy must be received in the NATE office no later than September 1, 2006.
If you are an eligible voting member of the Association, you should consider whether the time is right for you to step up and offer your services in this capacity. Your leadership can help ensure NATE’s ongoing success as the unified voice of the tower erection, service and maintenance industry.
Good luck to everyone who decides to seek a seat on next year’s Board of Directors, and thank you for your continued dedication to your association.
