Dear NATE Member,
Recently, NATE was advised that Arthur J. Gallagher Risk Management Services will no longer continue as the broker for the NATE Insurance Program. I want to thank Norman and Jonathan Henley for their dedication to this program. They have been attentive to the needs of NATE members and have done their best to meet the specific requests of the NATE Board of Directors. Economic times, however, have dictated that Arthur J. Gallagher provide insurance to tower erectors independently, rather than under the auspices of a NATE governed program.
Initially, in 1996, NATE established an insurance program for its members. In doing so, NATE wanted to ensure that the Association’s members had access to insurance options. From its inception, the program has provided many NATE members with needed insurance services. Over the past few years, more insurance companies have become members of NATE. As these companies joined the Association, they have created competition for the business of NATE members, which usually results in access to increased options regarding services and rates. NATE has been very pleased to see these additional insurers join the Association.
At the same time, competition for member business combined with the extreme economic climate facing the global marketplace has made the success of the NATE Insurance Program more challenging. Limitations placed on the program – such as not allowing non-NATE members into the program or finding ways to insure companies with lower worker’s comp premiums – has made continuation of this program more difficult. The combination of these and other circumstances has made remaining the broker for the NATE Insurance Program infeasible for Arthur J. Gallagher Risk Management Services.
While NATE has been proud to offer the insurance program as a benefit to our members, the Association is also proud that we have five member companies who are offering insurance services to tower erectors. Arthur J Gallagher Risk Management Services, Amerisafe, Atlantic Risk Management Corporation, Crump Insurance Services, and Insurance Office of America (IOA) are all available to discuss what insurance options they are able to provide to NATE members.
The NATE Board of Directors recognizes that the time may come when another insurance program is needed to meet the needs of its members. Rather than rushing to fill the position, however, NATE will be observing the relationships that develop among its members who are either offering or seeking these services. As more is learned about how successfully NATE’s current needs are being met by existing options, and a more thorough understanding has developed regarding what NATE members want and need, consideration may be given to developing a new insurance program. In the interim, the NATE Board of Directors believes the insurance needs of its members will be served well by those members offering insurance services.
We welcome your comments regarding this change. Please feel free to contact me or Patrick Howey at the NATE office to share your opinions.
Sincerely,
Jim Coleman Chairman NATE Board of Directors
